13 November 1861 Eastern Counties Railway gave notice of intent to make a railway:
  1. From a junction near the terminus of the goods and coal branch of the Wisbech, St Ives and Cambridge Junction Railway to Thorney,
  2. From Railway No.1 at Thorney to a junction with the Eastern Counties Railway at Standground, near Peterborough.
Did not succeed.

12 November 1862 Peterborough, Wisbeach & Sutton Railway gave notice of intent to make a railway:
  1. From the west side of Pickard’s Lane, Wisbeach to a junction with the Norwich & Spalding Railway near Sutton Bridge station,
  2. From a junction with Railway No.1 on the west side of Pickard’s Lane to the east side of the Thorney to Crowland road near the Thorney Gas & Waterworks,
  3. From a junction with Railway No.2 in Thorney to a junction with the Syston and Peterborough branch of the Midland Railway in Peterborough,
  4. From a junction with Railway No.1 to a point on the public road about 11 chains north of the Sutton Bridge Inn,
  5. To enable the proposed Company to enter into agreements with the Midland Railway for the maintenance and working of the railway,
  6. Running Powers over the Norwich & Spalding Railway into Sutton Bridge station.

16 May 1863 Heads of agreement for the Peterborough, Wisbeach & Sutton Railway to be worked by the Midland Railway. 1863 Act of Parliament.
28 July 1863 Royal assent given to Peterborough, Wisbeach & Sutton Railway Act authorised incorporation of the company and to make a railway:
also: confirmed the agreement of 16 May 1863.

11 November 1863 Peterborough, Wisbeach & Sutton Railway gave notice of intent to make a railway:
  1. From a junction with the Company’s authorised Railway No.2 in Wisbeach to a junction with the Great Eastern Railway near that company’s station in Wisbeach,
  2. From a junction with the Company’s authorised Railway No.2 in Wisbeach to a junction with the proposed Railway No.1 near the North Brink,
  3. Tramway No.1 from a junction with the Company’s authorised Railway No.1 to a point on the public highway near the north end of the swing bridge over the River Nene,
  4. Tramway No.2 from the terminus of Tramway No.1 to a junction with proposed Railway No.1,
  5. To enable the proposed Company to enter into agreements with the Great Eastern Railway or the Midland Railway or both of them for the maintenance and working of the railway.
